Any company whose employees drive at work need to show they have met the minimum standards under their Duty of Care for employees.

All companies must comply with the following:

• Have an up to date corporate risk assessment and a system in place for managing road risk.
• Have a risk mitigation plan in place to address general and specific needs uncovered by a risk assessment.
• Have an audit trail to prove the actions at both corporate and employee level and to help with road risk insurance.
• Have systems in place that cover employees driving their own vehicles on business as well as company cars.

If companies do not comply with the above, they are not managing road risk and breaking the law. This results in significant risk exposure and the HSE, VOSA and Police may pursue a prosecution against your company and Directors, management and staff.
